Yes, any person using the previous generation meter will need to keep the black activation chip in their meter. Once the black activation chip is in the meter, it should not be removed. 

It is not possible to delete stored results.

The required USB cable is a standard Micro-USB cable available from most electrical retailers.  The meter kit does not include a standard Micro-USB cable.  For more information, please contact customer support.
